The sad reality of social media in the last 3 or so years is that organically growing an audience has become extremely difficult.
Especially if you’re building that audience to buy your products.
It often works in reverse.
People buy your products and THEN follow you on social.
I have clients that post incredible, compelling, head-turning content daily.
They struggle to gain followers.
Some even have net losses of followers month-over-month.
This isn’t to say it’s impossible to succeed organically.
It is just increasingly rare.
The social media conglomerates purposely throttle organic reach in order to get you to buy ads / pay-to-play.
Tiktok has only been live for a few years and it’s already going the way of Facebook and Instagram.
I recently had a client that does incredibly well posting organic content tell me that this year, they’re going to rely ONLY on organic.
I was quick to pull their data.
Bear in mind that these guys have abnormally huge engagement on social.
Their content is literally explosive.
Like, they actually blow things up.
Anyway, here’s what I found:
As you can see, there are some posts that went verifiably viral.
However, those were a flash in the pan.
Over 95% of their reach was paid.
This is the sad reality that we live in.
However, if you can master the tools, the platforms, and the strategies,
You can use paid media to your massive advantage.
In fact, it is near impossible to scale your business to a significant size WITHOUT paid ads.
