Hunt like a tiger, not like a kitten

I’ve mentioned this analogy three times in my emails already…

If you ask my team, they’ll tell you it’s a daily topic of discussion with me.

Dan Jordan, Merchant Mastery Coach and Director of Strategy at Social Lite, told me that it was his biggest take-away of the year… So far.

And it is especially relevant to anyone in digital marketing, eCommerce…

You know what? It’s probably relevant for ANYONE in business.

This is because every day, your inbox fills up with people trying to get you to do something:

“Try this app that will triple your revenue overnight,” “Download this ebook with a map to the holy grail,”

Everything is always changing and evolving faster than the human mind can comprehend.

Well, the tiger/kitten concept is an easy one to grasp.

Have you ever seen a kitten learning to hunt a butterfly?

They crouch down, eyes darting from side to side, their butt starts to wiggle.

They attack prematurely.

Their hind legs are launching them in the air in random directions.

They expend a full meal’s worth of energy to catch a bug that probably won’t give them a single calorie.

At the end of it all, the butterfly bobbles away without a scratch.

Everyone starts out as a kitten, and that’s totally okay.

You have to suck at something before you can be awesome at something.

But the speed at which you enter the tiger stage can be increased.

The best way to do this is to learn from someone who has gone through it before.

They can tell you which tree to hunker down behind.

They can calm your anxiety when you’ve been in the tree for three days and no prey has come within sight.

And when the quarry arrives, they can tell you the perfect time to pounce.

And when you do, your prey will feed you and your family for a month.

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face.

Focus your energy on high-impact activities, master them, do them again and again and again.
